Lowell J. Chick has been a principal in the firm of Chick & Karo, CPA’s P.A. since 1981. Chick & Karo is a small regional accounting firm with clients in the South Florida area. Client concentrations include construction and sub-contracting, real estate development, and computer consulting. Lowell Chick is mainly involved with tax issues at the firm. He was an adjunct professor in taxation at Broward Community College. Previously, he taught advanced accounting and auditing at Nova University. A graduate of Furman University in Greenville, S.C. with a B.S. in chemistry he received his MBA from Nova University. He has also passed his comprehensive examinations for his DBA. Lowell is a past director of the Broward County Estate Planning Council and was active on the accountant/attorney advisory board of Broward County Israel Bond Council. He has lectured on various tax subjects in the South Florida area both for Chick & Karo as well as being a guest speaker at insurance and investment planning seminars. Lowell’s outside business interests include mini-warehousing. Affiliations include the AICPA and the FICPA.

Alice Chick is currently a principal of Chick & Karo CPA’s P.A. concentrating on computer consulting. Alice is a Certified QuickBooks advisor and consults with many start-up businesses. Alice has been with the firm since 1998. Previously, she was Vice President of Finance for Richard Young Inc., a national distributor of computer peripheral supplies that was purchased by Corporate Express where she became south regional controller. Prior to Richard Young, Alice was corporate controller of Office Depot, Inc. Alice’s background in systems implementation and computers stem from her earlier days when she programmed in RPG, RPG II, and RPG III for IBM systems 3, 34, and Series 1 computer. Alice started a computer processing company that provided payroll, general ledger, and related services to companies in South Florida and wrote and designed an inter-airlines billing package that was used by a major airline. Alice taught computer science courses at Florida Keys Community College. She is a graduate of C.W. Post College with a B.S. in accounting and received her MBA from Nova University. Affiliations include the AICPA, FICPA. AWSCPA, and the Broward County Estate Planning Council.
